G8 members have traditionally been supporters of initiatives that attempt to tackle the drug trade and most have signed on the Paris Pact Initiative. The action plan outlines a way to curtail transatlantic cocaine trafficking and will most likely be adopted due to the relative success of previous initiatives and because a comprehensive strategy that targets cocaine specifically does not exist.
