This objective will be of top priority concerning all G8 leaders given the tension and violence that is continuing in Libya and other north African countries. They will likely come up with a plan of action that will entail mounting pressure on the Libyan government to cease fighting, and encouraging UN or NATO attempts remove the Libyan President, Gaddafi, followed by democratic nation-building. G8 leaders agree that continuing aid supplies are crucial to the survival of civilians, and doing this will help alleviate Italy’s refugee situation.
