UK: World Economy: +1

Postscript: +1

In the G8 2011 communiqué – “Renewed Commitment for Freedom and Democracy” under Section III on the Global Economy and the Sub-Section Trade, the G8 confirmed its dedication to further free trade. The G8 would like the Doha round to reach a close as it has been lacking and there is need to increase trade liberalization going forward. Russia was congratulated on its work to ascend to the WTO and it was agreed the interests of Least Developed Countries (LDC) must be paid attention to.

Given the UK’s and the EU’s interest in the bringing the Western Balkan countries into the European Union through the Stabilization and Association agreement and their recent entering into as well as signing new trade agreements, they have echoed the commitment of the G8 and we have awarded them a score of +1.
